And even though it's an acronym, Radio Times has been slow to capitalize TARDIS ever since 1963. It took a while to settle down as all-caps even in the Target novels. *laments loss of Radio Times' Cult section after 1997*
UNIT is less forgivable. That *was* always in capital letters.
I'd forgotten about the RT Cult section. I still have all the Russell/Sullivan Eighth Doctor comic strips somewhere. :)
I'm so used to seeing TARDIS capitalised as it should be that it irks me whenever I see it written in lower case. Time Lord as one word bugs the hell out of me too.
I recently read an article--possibly the one about Moffat's ascension--that talked about the Baftas. I think such examples are why I've always suspected it was a UK preference rather than a mistake, but it's hard to say...and strikes me as odd regardless.
