You know, I think I love Nick Courtney just as much as I love the Brig--or at least, I love what I know of him. Friend of mine met him at a UK con several years ago and said he was just the most delightful man. I have no trouble believing that whatsoever.

I am constantly baffled by the failure to treat acronyms as they should be--it seems to be a UK style issue, since that's generally where I see it (I know I've seen it before this interview, in any case, and in what little press either get, UNIT and TARDIS are always capitalized). Very strange, but good to know I'm not the only one who thinks so!

I've never come across a fan who doesn't like Nick/The Brig. They're inextricably linked. I don't think the Brig would have come across as he did as a character if Nick wasn't such a lovely man himself.

It seems to be a matter of ignorance among the UK press, I think - they don't even realise that TARDIS stands for something, so they don't bother capitalising it. They think it's just the name of the Doctor's ship! They wouldn't put Rspca when referring to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, though, so if they've already mentioned that UNIT stands for United Nations Intelligence Taskforce they should put it in capitals. It's such a small thing, but it really aggravates me.

I concur. I've met Nick Courtney twice. He's like your favourtie grandad and Father Christmas all rolled into one. A true gentleman, and a very good conversationalist! *adores*

That's definitely the impression I get. I'd so love to meet him. (I was a bit surprised to see that he's 78. My god, how did that happen?)
